SOFIA is a joint project between NASA and DLR. DFRC is responsible for overall Program Management of SOFIA as well as for the Platform Project. Ames Research Center has responsibility for leading the development of the Science Project with USRA as prime contractor for Science, in partnership with DLR’s prime contractor for Science, the DSI (Deutsches SOFIA Institute).
